In late
2006 we purchased a '98 Hawk roller. At the time I purchased the car I was not 100% sure what I planned to do
with it. I had in the back of my head to run a Quad 4 Midget on pavement with
N.E.M.A. After watching a few shows with the Quad 4 powered cars running around
the back of the pack and being lapped 5 times in a 30 lap race I realized that
while it looked like fun, if I couldn't stay on the same lap as the leaders it
was probably a dangerous situation.
This car was
originally set up with a FONTANA engine and raced as a combo car by Jeff Hilbert
with NAMARS, the car registration number was M0155 and the car number itself was
68. I would love to know more of the history of the car if anyone recognizes the
driver or club name.
The start of racing with N.E.M.A is the first weekend of April and at this point
it does not look like we will make the start of the season. I have to finish
some fabrication, plumbing and paint while also getting the Whip City car ready
to go. We will probably run some with the NEMA Lite series before stepping up to
the big time.
