PAVEMENT - THE ENGINE
Shown above is a
custom power steering pump with AN-6 pressure and AN-10 suction port for a
remote mounted reservoir. The pump is driven off the exhaust cam using a custom
drive coupling and mounting adaptor. A stock Quad 4 uses the intake cam to drive
the power steering on the street, but for racing the pump, mounting brackets,
drive pulleys and belt add weight, take up space and with a motor that is laid
over at 25° the pump would contact the frame and motor plate.
